Which doctor is the best for pelvic floor problems and dysfunction?

For individuals facing pelvic floor issues, the most effective care often comes from a Doctor of Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy (PT). These specialists are highly recommended by primary and specialty physicians for their in-depth knowledge and specialized training in diagnosing and treating pelvic floor conditions. By employing a comprehensive approach that includes manual therapy, targeted exercises, and pelvic health education, Doctors of Pelvic Floor PT provide personalized care that addresses the unique needs of each patient. • Hello! My name is Jana and I’m so glad you found me.

I know what you’re thinking, how did I get into this unique field? Initially, I thought pelvic floor physical therapy was out there and definitely not for me (as many of you may have felt at some point). After learning more about this speciality, I realized there was more to pelvic PT than just prescribing kegels to postpartum people. I saw that pelvic floor therapy really is for everyone, because everyone has a pelvis!

My passion for pelvic health was solidified after treating my first few patients. It was inspiring to see how they felt empowered after their first visit and hopeful about the future after treatments.

I believe that good quality pelvic health care starts from having a safe and comfortable space where you can share your story without reservation or judgment. Only then can we thoroughly explore what is going on with your pelvic floor, how it relates to the rest of your body (yes, more than just the pelvis), as well as your lifestyle. In my opinion, this is the foundation for lasting relief.

I’ve had the honor of helping many people overcome their pelvic health challenges and find the freedom to live life fully again. You have a choice to make your pelvic health concerns only one chapter in your life, not your entire story. I can help guide you along, and together we can rewrite that chapter.

  • Hi! My name is Shayna. I am a Physical Therapist who loves talking pelvic.

My interest in the pelvic floor specialty manifested through my years of experience as a dancer and heightened with the birth of my son. I believe in providing a safe space to smash the taboos around pelvic health and empower my patients to take control of their overall health and wellness.

When I am not in the clinic, I love spending time with my family, dancing and checking out local breweries.

  • My name is Rebekah. I’m a Physical Therapist passionate about helping people who have pelvic floor dysfunction. I’ve been treating this population for most of my PT career and recently completed a residency program focused entirely on further advancement of my knowledge and treatment for pelvic floor dysfunction.

My goal for our patients is to create a safe, comfortable space to help find and treat underlying causes that might be affecting their pelvic floor. This might include treating a totally different body part that doesn’t seem at all related to the pelvic floor, but because it could be influencing the pelvic floor dysfunction it would be helpful to treat it!

When I’m not working, I like to travel (anywhere is great, but more recently it’s been road trips), baking (here I come to the Great British Bake Off!), and crafting.

Dr Rebekah Wolinetz, PT, DPT, WCS, PRPC, PCES Cert. DN

What does a Pelvic Floor PT Evaluation involve?

The Story

The start of your evaluation involves a confidential discussion between you and your therapist in a private and comfortable room. During this session, you will have the opportunity to share your medical history and discuss your current concerns with your pelvic floor. This discussion is crucial in helping your therapist gain a better understanding of your condition and develop an appropriate treatment plan tailored to your specific needs and desires.

The Exam

Following the initial conversation, your therapist will conduct a physical assessment of your body to identify areas of discomfort or pain. This assessment includes an external examination to observe how your body moves and internal examination of your pelvic floor, which will only be conducted if necessary and with your consent. All physical assessments are performed on a comfortable bed while you are completely covered with clean sheets, and your therapist will communicate throughout the examination to help you understand your symptoms and why they may be occurring.

The Plan

Once the physical assessment is complete, therapist will discuss with you the treatment options available based on your individual needs. This may include recommended exercises, stretching routines, or other therapies. Additionally, your therapist may provide you with a tracking log to monitor your symptoms over time. Through a collaborative effort between you and your therapist, a treatment plan will be created to help you achieve your desired outcomes and improve your overall quality of life.
